India will take on Sri Lanka for the first T20I of the three-match series at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday, January 3. Hardik Pandya will be leading the side in the absence of Rohit Sharma. India’s star campaigner Suryakumar Yadav who had an excellent T20 world cup campaign, has been assigned the deputy post in the team. Sanju Samson has also been recalled in the squad.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka will be captained by Dasun Shanaka, while Kushal Mendis will be the team’s vice-captain. Both the teams are full of young talents and would be looking to register a win in the opening game.
The track at the Wankhede favours both batters and bowlers. It is a bouncy track, and the ball comes nicely onto the bat. The average first innings score at this venue is 168. Both teams would look to chase down the target because of the due factor.
