Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant is said to have been moved from Dehradun’s Max Hospital to Mumbai on Wednesday as his ligament injuries needed immediate intervention.

It is to be noted that the 25-year-old sustained multiple injuries as his car hit a road divider near Roorkee in Haridwar, and he received cuts on his forehead along with injuries on his back, knee and ankle.

Pant was returning to Uttarakhand from Delhi to surprise his mother when the horror occurred. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met the injured player on Sunday at the Max Hospital Dehradun and said that the cricketer’s car hit the divider as he was trying to avoid a pothole on the Delhi-Dehradun highway.

In Mumbai, Pant would be treated by a BCCI panel of doctors led by Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, who previously has treated the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja and also many Olympics athletes. Dr Pardiawala is head of the Centre for Sports Medicine and Director – of Arthroscopy & Shoulder Service at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute.

Pant is India’s first-choice wicketkeeper-batsman, an A+ category player of the BCCI contract. And while Pant’s treatment is being carried out under his medical insurance cover, the cost of the air ambulance would be borne by the BCCI.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India have made all the necessary arrangements to shift India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant to Mumbai. Rishabh, who is currently receiving treatment for his injuries at Max Hospital, Dehradun following a car accident on 30th December, will be brought to Mumbai in an air ambulance. The Board will make every effort to aid and expedite the recovery process of Rishabh and will provide him with all the support he needs during this period,” said Jay Shah, Honorary Secretary, BCCI, in an official press release.
