India defeated New Zealand in the second ODI by eight wickets at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Saturday. The Men in Blue also clinched the series 2-0, with the third and final ODI left to be held in Indore.

After winning the toss, India elected to bowl first and put New Zealand on the back foot right from the word go. The tourists struggled to build partnerships and got bundled out for a mere 108 in 34.3 overs. Glenn Phillips was their top scorer, making 36 runs off 52 balls.

India’s bowling attack was extremely dominant, with Mohammed Shami leading the way, taking three wickets for just 18 runs in six overs, including a maiden. Hardik Pandya and Washington Sundar also contributed with two wickets each.

Chasing a low target of 109, India’s opening partnership of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill set the tone, with the duo adding 72 runs. Rohit smashed 51 runs off 50 deliveries, including seven fours and two sixes, while Gill remained not out on 40. Eventually, India successfully chased down the target in 18.4 overs, winning the contest by eight wickets.
