Team India’s talismanic batter Virat Kohli often speaks highly of his wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma. He never shies away from accepting how she made him a better human being and how his life has changed for good after tying the knot with her. The couple, who married secretly in Italy, later didn’t leave a chance to let the fans know of their love and mutual admiration.
But now, Kohli has opened up about the time which made him cranky and snappy with his family and friends.
The 34-year-old, who smashed three centuries in One-Day International (ODIs) in last one month after a near three year draught, has admitted of him being in a complete denial about the vulnerabilities and frustrations during his poor run of form.
“In my case, in denial, frustration was creeping in. I was very cranky, very snappy in my space. It was not fair on (wife) Anushka (Sharma), my close ones, its not fair on the people who support you. So I had to take responsibility and kind of put things in perspective,” Kohli told his teammate Suryakumar Yadav in an interview for bcci.tv.
Kohli further revealed that he moved away from his primary passion (cricket) in order to rekindle it and feel hungry for runs once again.
“I was far off from my cricket. My attachments, my desire, had totally taken over. That’s when I realised that I can’t be away from who I am. I have to be true to myself. Even when I am vulnerable, I am not playing well, I am the worst player around, I have to accept it. I can’t be in denial,” added Kohli.
Meanwhile, in her interview with Filmfare, Anushka said she loves Kohli “just because of the human being that he is”. Talking about their marriage, the model-turned-actress stated: “I am married to my best friend. I am married to my confidant. I am married to someone I love so dearly just because of the human being that he is. You talk about being misunderstood in life and then you meet someone who understands you completely. Then the world doesn’t exist. So for him and me, when we are together, the world ceases to exist.”
