India’s batting sensation Suryakumar Yadav showed his A Game in the recently-concluded third T20I against Sri Lanka in Rajkot. The world’s number one T20I batter smashed his third century of the shortest format, playing an unbeaten knock of 112 runs off 51 balls, including seven fours and nine sixes.
The hosts posted 228/5 in 20 overs, which the Islanders failed to chase, getting out for 137 in 16.4 overs. With the win, India also grabbed the series 2-1.
Earlier, Suryakumar scored a T20I century versus England in Nottingham in July 2022 and against New Zealand in November last year at the Mount Maunganui. No wonder SKY’s teammates were super impressed with his batting display in Rajkot. He was greeted by his teammates, and in a viral video, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was seen kissing Suryakumar’s hand in an extraordinary gesture after the game.

In the presentation ceremony, Suryakumar revealed that India’s head coach Rahul Dravid allows him to play freely and express himself.
“It’s really important to put pressure on yourself when you are preparing for a game. If you do that in practice, it gets a little easier while playing the game. There is a lot of hard work involved, but it’s about doing quality practice sessions. You should know what your game is and prepare accordingly. Boundaries behind are like 50-60 meters, so I was targeting them. There are some shots that are pre-determined, but you need to have other shots, too, so that if the bowler changes his plan, you can have an answer. He (Dravid) just lets me enjoy myself. He tells me to just enjoy and express myself,” said Suryakumar.
