After winning the first two fixtures and successfully retaining the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023, India will next lock horns with Australia in the third Test of the series at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore from Wednesday (March 1).

Ahead of the upcoming game against the Aussies, India’s wicketkeeper KS Bharat revealed the reason behind his successful Decision Review System (DRS) calls in the ongoing BGT. The 29-year-old cricketer credited Rohit Sharma for the stint and expressed gratitude towards the latter for the trust he bestows upon him.

While speaking in a press conference, Bharat disclosed that he has all the backing of Rohit when it comes to DRS calls and that the Indian skipper refers to him as the ‘best judge’.

“Rohit bhai and myself had a word. ‘He (Rohit) said, you are the best judge, as you stay close to the batsman. So whatever you feel, just give your opinion. You, me and the bowler…the three of us will discuss, and we will take a call. He (Rohit) said, don’t worry about whether it is going to go our way or their way. Just back your instincts… whatever you feel, just put it across’. So the message is clear.” told Bharat in the press conference.

Notably, Bharat made his India debut in the opening Test of the BGT 2023 in Nagpur and has so far taken four catches in two games. He batted at no. 6 in the previous game against Australia at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and opted for counter-attacking, scoring an unbeaten 23.

The Andhra cricketer further in the press conference also shared his experience of keeping wickets for the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja on bouncy tracks. Referring to the Ashwin-Jadeja duo, he said: “They are top-class spinners. It’s not easy to keep to them but it’s not difficult. All this while, playing in domestic, keeping for 10-12 years, you are prepared to keep the best spinners. Every ball, you have to keep balance, think the ball is coming your way every ball.”
