Shubman Gill smashed a brilliant ton in the third and final T20 International (T20I) of the three-match series between India and New Zealand at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on Wednesday, February 1.
Gill, who had famously scored a double century in the ODIs against the Blackcaps earlier, reached the triple-figure mark in the shortest format for the first time in his career. Gill raced to his hundred in just 54 balls, becoming the youngest player to slam a century in T20Is.
Gill is now also the second-youngest batter in the history of the game to register a century across all three formats of the game. Pakistan’s Ahmed Shahzad holds a unique record as he breached the triple figure in Tests, ODIs and T20Is at 22 years and 127 days.
Incidentally, Gill made his T20I debut only this year during the series opener against Sri Lanka in January. Before the century knock, the Punjab lad had only 76 runs in five matches, and there was considerable pressure on the youngster to retain his place in the star-studded line.
In the third ODI against the Kiwis, Gill even got Tinder proposal from a fan girl, holding a placard which read, “Tinder Shubman se Match Karado.”
The picture of the girl has gone viral on social media.

For the unversed, Gill’s name has already been linked to the daughter of batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, Sara Tendulkar, and Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan.
However, he has not confirmed his relationship with either of them and is currently focusing on his cricketing career.
Gill will next move to Nagpur and join the Indian squad for the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy versus Australia. The first Test of the four-match series starts on February 9 in Nagpur.
