Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have a history of signing some of the best players in world cricket for their squad, and at the auction for the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL) they added Australian superstar Ellyse Perry to their ranks.
Despite not achieving their desired results at the start of the WPL 2023 season, the spirits of the RCB women’s team remain high. In a recent Q&A session with the Bengaluru-based franchise, Perry was asked a tricky question to choose between former RCB men’s team captain Virat Kohli and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) current skipper MS Dhoni.
Choosing between Kohli and Dhoni is one of the toughest tasks for cricket fans around the world. In a video shared by RCB on their official Twitter handle, Perry was asked to pick one of the two as her opening partner. The Australian all-rounder responded by saying that she would choose both players and bench herself so that she could watch them play.
“I (Perry) will pick both of them (Kohli and Dhoni) to open together so I can watch from outside.”
Apart from speaking about Kohli and Dhoni, Perry talked about her fan-girl moment when she was present in the same room with Roger Federer, who retired from professional Tennis last year after winning 21 Grand Slam singles titles.
“Plenty of times, I was in the same room with Roger Federer and I found it hard to stay composed,” she added.

Perry’s answers highlight her admiration for cricket and other sports. Her ability to recognize the strengths of her peers and put the team’s success above her individual performance is commendable. Although the RCB women’s team hasn’t had the start they hoped for, Perry’s presence and positive attitude will undoubtedly contribute to the team’s growth and success in the future.
