The fourth Test between India and Australia saw the full five days of action, eventually resulting in a draw after captains of both sides shook hands in the last hour of play on Day 5 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

As the contest was heading into the draw, the final moments of the game also witnessed a rare sight when senior India batter Cheteshwar Pujara was introduced into the bowling attack by skipper Rohit Sharma.

Pujara conceded only one run as he bowled a tidy over, which was appreciated by the crowd as well as the commentators. Former India skipper and popular broadcaster Sunil Gavaskar remarked on commentary that Pujara’s bowling style resembled the Australia legend Shane Warne.

Even India spin great Ravichandran Ashwin had a fun time during the whole episode as the Chennai-born cricketer came up with a brilliant reaction to Pujara’s bowling. Ashwin, who is quite active on social media, tweeted Pujara’s bowling action picture and captioned it: “Main kya karu? Job chod du?.” Notably, Ashwin was referring to a viral meme from an Indian stand-up comedian Abhishek Upamanyu’s video, which translates to – “What should I do? Leave my job?”.

Ashwin finished the 4-match Border-Gavaskar series as the highest wicket-taker. He took 25 scalps at an average of 17.28, including two 5-wicket hauls. The Tami Nadu tweaker was named Player of the Series jointly with teammate Ravindra Jadeja, who was the second-highest wicket-taker with 22 scalps.

Ashwin heaped praises on Jaddu, mentioning how the left-armer allows him to bowl with a lot of freedom. Ashwin reckoned that it was Jadeja’s spectacular spell in the Delhi Test which helped India reach where they ended up.

“It has been a great journey. We (himself and Jadeja) started a long time ago but we wouldn’t be the same or lethal enough without the other. We need to recognise that, at least I have started recognising that over the last 2-3 years. He gives me a lot of freedom to be creative with the ball, credit to him, I thought he bowled beautifully in the Delhi Test as well and that’s why we are here today,” said Ashwin at the post-match presentation.
