Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has been super impressive in his performances for India. Ever since his debut, Siraj has made his presence felt in both One Day Internationals and Test matches. The pacer is currently part of the Indian setup in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.
In the spin-dominated first two Tests, Siraj was only able to take one wicket, which came during the first innings in the opening Test. He is working hard on the nets ahead of the third Test which is set to begin on Wednesday, March 01 at Holkar Stadium in Indore.
Meanwhile, Siraj has shared an interesting story about his different experiences while bowling to Indian batters in the nets. The Hyderabad pacer revealed that bowling to former skipper Virat Kohli is quite challenging as the talismanic batter doesn’t allow much time for the bowlers to settle before facing the next delivery.
“Pujji Bhai (Cheteshwar Pujara), he plays with a deep focus in Test cricket… Virat bhai does not give rest to the fast bowler. He gets ready immediately after hitting the shot, I don’t even get time to settle,” said Siraj on the SG Cricket YouTube channel when quizzed about which batsman he enjoys bowling in the nets.
Siraj revealed the intensity and competitiveness that Kohli brings to the game, even in the nets. The fast bowler said that, unlike other batters, Kohli gets ready immediately after hitting a shot.
“After hitting the shot, the batsman looks here and there, but Virat Bhai… he gets ready immediately. He has this passion… his aggression, which is amazing about a superstar like him,” he added.
Notably, Team India are currently leading the 4-match Border Gavaskar Trophy 2-0 after winning the first two matches in Nagpur and Delhi, respectively. India won the first Test by an innings and 132 runs. Similarly, in the second game, the hosts defeated the tourists by 6 wickets.
