Misbah-ul-Haq’s fine batting display, followed by a disciplined bowling performance, helped Asia Lions get the better off World Giants in the third match of the ongoing Legends League Cricket (LLC) at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha on Monday.

In a 10-overs per-side rain-curtailed match, the Lions posted 99/3 on the board after being asked to bat. The lions lost three wickets for just 39 before Tillakaratne Dilshan, and Misbah took charge and bailed out their side. The duo went on to form an unbeaten partnership of 60 runs for the fourth wicket to help the Lions reach a competitive total. While Dilshan stayed not out on 32 off 24 balls, including 3 fours and a six, Misbah remained undefeated on 44 from just 19 deliveries with the help of 4 fours and 3 maximums.

In response, the Giants got off to a flyer with Chris Gayle and Lendl Simmons adding 40 runs in 4.3 overs to show their clear intention of wrapping things up early. However, Lions skipper Shahid Afridi came up with an inspirational over, dismissing both Gayle and Simmons, which triggered the batting collapse of the Giants.

The Giants’ batting unit fell like a pack of cards and were bowled out for just 64, losing the contest by 35 runs. Apart from Afridi, who bagged a couple of scalps, Abdur Razzak also shined with the ball. Razzak picked up two wickets for just 2 runs in his quota of 2 overs, including a maiden.
