The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is around the corner, and the players have started reaching their respective camps to train ahead of the marquee event. One of the most successful captains of the league MS Dhoni also arrived in Chennai to join the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team group on Thursday, March 2.
Dhoni received a grand reception from the CSK staff on his arrival and was also spotted blessing a girl child and posing for a picture with her. After clicking a photo with the cute little girl, the former India captain gracefully put his hand on her head. Fans seemed to love this heart-warming gesture and praised him for his kindness.
The official CSK handle shared the clip of Dhoni’s entry to the camp on Twitter and captioned it, “Oh Captain, our Captain!”. The video soon went viral on the internet, with cricket enthusiasts thrilled to see ‘Thala’ back in action and expressing their excitement on social media.

Notably, it would be after three years gap that Dhoni will play an IPL game in Chennai as in the past few years, the home and away format of the league was halted due to the pandemic.
Speaking on Star Sports following the announcement of the IPL 2023 schedule, Veteran Australia opener and former CSK player Matthew Hayden talked about the welcome Dhoni will receive when he walks onto the field at Chepauk after almost three years.
“It will be an amazing moment. I think last year, we were all under the impression that will MSD come back again. At the close of the IPL season, he made that huge comment to say that he will be back. Now, what that means for all that Yellow Army is that Chennai suddenly galvanized a tad around the superior leader, who has done it for so long. This will, most certainly, I think, be the close of his IPL career. So, those few games at the start are not only going to be key for the fans, his performance is going to be key for CSK this season,” said Hayden.
