The Shaheen Shah Afridi-led Lahore Qalandars recently won the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final to become the first team to win back-to-back PSL titles. The Qalandars had defeated Mohmmad Rizwan-led Multan Sultans by a solitary run in a nail-biting thriller.

Captain Afridi was the star performer with both bat and ball. He picked up 4 wickets for 51 after smashing a quickfire 44, not out. Qalandars had managed to post 200/6 in their allotted 20 overs at a 25,000 Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, and in response, the Sultans finished on 199/8, losing the contest by 1 run.

A few days after the title triumph, Qalandars’ fast bowler Haris Rauf took the PSL trophy to Wagah Border and clicked selfies with fans and security forces present there. Pakistan’s javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem also joined Rauf at Wagah Border and posed with the players.

Notably, Wagah Border is a border crossing that connects the Indian city of Amritsar with the Pakistani city of Lahore. It is the only road border crossing between India and Pakistan and is famous for its daily flag-lowering ceremony, which takes place in the evening before sunset.

Rauf and Shaheen will be seen in action in the upcoming season of England’s very own competition – The Hundred. Both the players were picked by Welsh Fire. However, the likes of Babar Azam and Rizwan were not picked by any franchise. Not to mention, the 100-ball competition is all set to begin on August 01, with Trent Rockets taking on Southern Brave at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. When it comes to the Welsh Fire, they will kickstart their journey on a subsequent day against Manchester Originals at Sophie Gardens in Cardiff.
