Arjun Tendulkar, son of the renowned former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, finally made his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Mumbai Indians (MI).

Arjun received the MI cap from Rohit Sharma during the Sunday afternoon game against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). It is worth mentioning that Arjun was part of the MI team last year but failed to secure a place in the playing XI. After his stint with the franchise, he moved from Mumbai to Goa for his domestic team and subsequently scored his debut first-class century.

In his career as a bowling all-rounder, Arjun has played 7 First Class matches, with 12 wickets to his name. In addition, he has scored 223 runs, maintaining an average of 24.77. The 23-year-old has also managed to take 12 wickets in 9 T20 matches and 8 dismissals in 7 fifty-over format games.

As Arjun finally made his maiden appearance for Mumbai in the cash-rich league, fans couldn’t keep up and reacted brilliantly.

Though Rohit gave the debut cap to Arjun, he didn’t enter the field, and Suryakumar Yadav came for the toss. Suryakumar was picked to lead the team in the absence of Rohit, who was forced to miss the game due to a stomach bug. However, he was named among the five substitutes for the clash against KKR.

“Will love to bowl first, the wicket looks dry. The ball comes on to the bat nicely later. Rohit is out, he has a stomach bug. Time to put up a good show. We are going with one change, Duan Jansen comes in, rest all is same,” said Surya at the toss.
