Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are locking horns with each other in the 37th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
CSK, who have won five out of their seven matches, currently sit at the top of the table with 10 points. Meanwhile, RR, with four wins and 8 points in their kitty, are placed third.
The match is taking place at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, the home ground for the Royals. However, just before the game, Sanju Samson’s RR were dealt with a major setback. Fast bowler Trent Boult, who has been consistently providing excellent starts to the Royals, was ruled out of the game against CSK due to a niggle.
“We would like to bat first. We like to stick to our strength, which is to defend. It feels really great to play RR’s 200th game, feels great to be playing for 10 years. Would love to see some pink here today, but it’s yellow and we know that the reason is (smiles). Boult misses out due to a niggle, Zampa is playing in his place,” RR captain Samson said at the toss.
Boult has been a key player for the Royals, and his absence will definitely be felt. He has picked up wickets in his very first over in most matches, which has helped RR gain early momentum. However, with him not playing today’s game, Adam Zampa has been named in the playing XI in his place. Zampa will have big shoes to fill as Boult’s contribution to the team has been significant.
