MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma are both prominent figures in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Both are known for their aggressive batting display and inspirational captaincy. While Rohit is considered as an explosive opener, Dhoni is widely regarded as the greatest finisher in the cash-rich league.
Notably, Dhoni has been associated with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise since the inception of the IPL in 2008. Dhoni is known for his astute captaincy and calm leadership style, which has helped CSK grab four IPL titles (2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021).
Rohit, on the other hand, has been a key player for the Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise since 2011. He has been the captain of the MI team since 2013, leading them to five IPL titles (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020), making MI the most successful team in IPL history.
Both Dhoni and Rohit are highly respected figures in the IPL, and bowlers irrespective of spinners and pacers, face so much trouble while bowling against them. But who between the duo is more difficult to bowl to? Well, former CSK and MI bowler Harbhajan Singh has named his choice in the form of MI captain Rohit.
Bhajji said he didn’t bowl a lot to MSD due to the latter’s batting order and has dismissed Dhoni in the cash-rich league. Harbhajan mentioned that Dhoni had an impact over the game in the past but Rohit is currently the best and most dangerous if he bats from the beginning to the end.
“Rohit Sharma, any day, any time. Very difficult batsman to bowl to. I didn’t bowl a lot against Mahendra Singh Dhoni because by the time he came in to bat my spell was almost over. But no matter how little I bowled, got him dismissed as well, in the last three overs of the game, he was a very dangerous player. But most of my overs were done by that time,” said Harbhajan on Star Sports.
“But Rohit Sharma, if we are talking overall, had a very big impact, a class player in terms of batting skill. Dhoni used to be a one of the most dangerous players in the game when he used to come in at the end as a finisher, but if Rohit bats from the beginning to the end, then there is no better player than him,” he added.
