In the 35th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Gujarat Titans (GT) completely dominated the proceedings and handed Mumbai Indians (MI) their fourth defeat at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Put in to bat, Gujarat kicked off their innings strongly, with Shubman Gill leading the charge with a half-century off just 34 deliveries. Contributions from David Miller (46 off 22) and Abhinav Manohar (42 off 21) helped the defending champions reach an imposing total of 207 for the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs.

Veteran leg-spinner Piyush Chawla was the pick of the bowlers for Mumbai with figures of 2 wickets for 34 runs in his quota of four overs.

In response, Mumbai struggled to get going with the bat, losing wickets at regular intervals. Cameron Green (33 off 26) and Nehal Wadhera (40 off 21) tried to resurrect the innings, but it wasn’t enough as Mumbai were bowled out for just 152 in 20 overs, losing the contest by 55 runs.

Afghanistan spin sensation Noor Ahmad was the standout bowler for Gujarat Titans, taking three wickets for 37 runs in his four overs. His countryman Rashid Khan bagged two scalps while medium-pacer Mohit Sharma too picked up a couple.
