In the 25th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Rajeev Gandhi International Stadium on Tuesday.

Put in to bat first, Mumbai got off to a flying start with opener Rohit Sharma scoring 28 runs off 18 balls, including six boundaries. Ishan Kishan contributed 38 runs off 31 balls, while Cameron Green stole the show with his spectacular knock of 64 runs off 40 balls, including six fours and two sixes. Tilak Varma and Tim David also chipped in with crucial runs as Mumbai finished with an imposing total of 192/5 in their 20 overs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Marco Jansen were the pick of the bowlers for the Sunrisers, with two wickets each. However, the other bowlers struggled to contain the MI batters and leaked too many runs.

Chasing a target of 193 runs, SRH got off to a poor start as opener Harry Brook departed early, scoring just 9 runs off 7 balls. Mayank Agarwal played a fighting knock of 48 runs off 41 balls, while captain Aiden Markram contributed 22 runs off 17 balls.

Heinrich Klaasen and Marco Jansen also played useful cameos, scoring 36 runs off 16 balls and 13 runs off 6 balls, respectively. However, none of the other batters could contribute significantly, as the Sunrisers were bowled out for 178 runs in 19.5 overs, losing the contest by 14 runs.

Jason Behrendorff and Riley Meredith were the pick of the bowlers for Mumbai Indians, with two wickets each. Arjun Tendulkar, Green and Piyush Chawla also chipped in with crucial wickets.
