In the 27th match of the Indian Premier League 2023, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) faced a defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Thursday.

Asked to bat first, the Bangalore put up a challenging total of 174 runs for the loss of four wickets in their 20 overs. Faf du Plessis was the star of the innings, smashing 84 runs off just 56 balls, including five fours and five sixes. Captain Virat Kohli contributed 59 runs off 47 balls with five fours and one six. Punjab bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Harpreet Brar picked up a wicket each.

In response, PBKS started their innings positively with Prabhsimran Singh hitting 46 runs off just 30 balls with three fours and four sixes. However, none of the other batsmen could get going, and they lost wickets at regular intervals. Jitesh Sharma played a valuable innings of 41 runs off 27 balls with two fours and three sixes, but it was not enough to take his team over the line.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore bowlers were excellent, with Mohammed Siraj being the pick of the bowlers, taking four wickets for just 21 runs in his four overs. Wanindu Hasaranga and Wayne Parnell also chipped in with two and one wicket, respectively. The Punjab Kings were bowled out for 150 runs in 18.2 overs, losing the match by 24 runs.
