Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have been dedicated to spreading awareness about the need for a cleaner and greener environment through the ‘Go Green’ initiative since 2011. As part of this initiative, RCB plays the “Green Game” every IPL season. This year the Bangalore-based team is wearing Green Jersey against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 32nd match of the IPL at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The jerseys RCB players have donned today are recycled and made from waste collected at the stadium. Notably, the stadium generates approximately eight tons of waste per match, which is processed through waste segregation practices to make recycled products.

RCB has formed a Green Army in collaboration with Goodera, a sustainability help group and the Implementation Partner for Go Green Initiative, to keep the ground premises clean. Additionally, the Bangalore-based franchise intends to expand its green initiatives and encourage fans from all over the world to join the crusade to promote sustainable and eco-friendly living.

The initiative this year will include the restoration of two lakes in South Bengaluru and the rollout of Green School certification to nearly 200 schools. Furthermore, it is also noteworthy that RCB conducts cricket matches using solar and wind power at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, making it an eco-friendly cricket venue.

“As part of our year-long commitment, we will enable and encourage sustainability for the people, of the people, and by the people through a unique fan-driven model of carbon neutrality and rejuvenating and restoring the city lakes which were once the pride of Bangalore city. We also feel we need to begin early in life to start living consciously and therefore Green School is an initiative to involve future generations to be a part of the movement,” said Rajesh Menon, VP and Head of RCB.

Playing XI of RCB for today’s match:

Virat Kohli (c), Faf du Plessis, Mahipal Lomror, Glenn Maxwell, Shahbaz Ahmed, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Suyash Prabhudessai, David Willey, Wanindu Hasaranga, Mohammed Siraj, Vijaykumar Vyshak.
