In a high-scoring match, Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by six wickets in Match 42 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 held at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.

Batting first the Royals started off strong with Yashasvi Jaiswal taking MI bowlers to the cleaners showing all his class. The left-handed batter smashed a stunning century finishing with an impressive 124 runs off just 62 balls, which featured 16 fours and 8 sixes. Riding on Yashasvi’s outstanding century, the Royals managed to score 212 for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

In response, Mumbai began slowly, losing their skipper Rohit Sharma early on for just 3 runs. Ishan Kishan and Cameron Green tried to stabilize the innings with 28 and 44 runs, respectively.

However, it was Suryakumar Yadav who played a match-winning innings, scoring 55 runs off just 29 balls, including 8 fours and 2 sixes. Tilak Varma and Tim David also played crucial knocks of 29 and 45 runs, respectively, as the five-time champions chased down the target with 3 balls to spare, finishing at 214/4.

For Rajasthan Royals, Ravichandran Ashwin was the most successful bowler, picking up two wickets for just 27 runs in his 4 overs. Similarly, Arshad Khan was the pick of the bowlers for Mumbai Indians, taking 3 wickets for 39 runs in his 3 overs. Experienced spin bowler Piyush Chawla also took two wickets.
