After a thrilling first T20I which went into Super Over, New Zealand and Sri Lanka faced each other in the second game at University Oval in Dunedin on Wednesday. Unlike the opening fixture, the second T20I didn’t see the nail-biting finish as the Black Caps completely dominated the proceedings and sealed a 9-wicket victory to level the 3-match series 1-1.

Adam Milne led New Zealand’s seamers and returned with an impressive show which caused Sri Lanka’s innings to falter. The right-arm pacer ended up grabbing a five-wicket haul, dismantling the Lankan batting attack right from the word go.

During his eye-catching bowling performance, Milne also grabbed headlines with his fiery pace, resulting in a Sri Lanka batter breaking his bat. It all happened during the opening over of the Lankan innings when Milne bowled at a good length which struck above the sticker of Nissanka’s bat, and the willow immediately broke as the handle almost came out.

Milne, Seifert sizzle in dominating series-levelling victory

Milne, who showed his insane pace bowling in the opening over, continued to attack and demolished the Sri Lanka batting unit. He bagged a sensational five-wicket haul to restrict the Islanders to a mere 141. Dhananjaya de Silva, with 26-ball 37, was the highest scorer for the visiting side.

In response, the Black Caps gunned down the modest target in 14.4 overs with nine wickets in hand. The star of the chase was opener Tim Seifert, who played a breathtaking knock of 79 runs off only 43 deliveries. Seifert’s innings, which included several impressive strokes, featured three fours and 6 sixes. He formed an unbeaten 106-run partnership with skipper Tom Latham as the hosts levelled the series. The 3-match leg decider will be played in Queenstown on Saturday (April 8).
