The much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 started with a grand opening ceremony at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday (March 31). The first match of the season was played between the Gujarat Titans (GT) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The stadium was buzzing with excitement as fans eagerly awaited the start of the match.

The opening ceremony was a glittering affair with stunning performances by Indian film industry stars Tamannaah Bhatia and Rashmika Mandhanna. The crowd was mesmerized by their graceful dance moves. Popular singer Arijit Singh also enthralled the audience with his soulful renditions of Bollywood songs.

Arijit’s performance was a major highlight of the event as he sang chartbusters like ‘Kesariya’, ‘Pathaan’, and ‘Dance Da Bhooth’. His electrifying performance had the entire stadium swaying to his tunes. CSK captain MS Dhoni was also seen enjoying the performance and grooving to the song ‘Deva Deva’.

The closing moments of the opening ceremony saw the captains of the two teams, Dhoni and Hardik Pandya, being called on stage for a photo session with the performers and officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). It was a moment of pride for both the captains to represent their respective teams on such a big platform.

During this photo session, Arijit approached Dhoni and touched his feet, despite the latter trying to stop him. This gesture of humility and respect from Arijit left everyone present in the stadium awestruck. It showed that despite being a celebrity with a massive fan following, Arijit was grounded and respected Dhoni immensely.

Arijit’s gesture was highly appreciated by fans on social media, who applauded him for his humility and respect towards the former India captain. This incident also highlighted how much respect Dhoni commands, not just on the field but off it as well.
