Delhi Capitals (DC) will square off against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 59th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Arun Jaitely Stadium on Saturday (May 13). Notably, this would be the first time the two teams will face each other in the IPL 2023.

As far as the last matches of both the teams are concerned, while Delhi suffered a defeat against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their previous game, Punjab Lost to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Rilee Rossouw was the top-scorer for DC in their clash against CSK as he played a resilient 35-run knock for his side. Although Axar Patel also chipped in with quickfire 21 runs off 12 balls, he failed to sail his team through in the run chase. Among bowlers, Mitchell Marsh picked up three wickets for DC in the first innings. Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan was the lone warrior for Punjab in their encounter against KKR. The PBKS skipper scored impressive 57 runs for his side. However, Punjab failed to defend the target and were defeated.

DC are placed on the last position of the IPL 2023 points table and needs to register a win in every remaining game to stay alive in the playoff race. On the other hand, PBKS are on the eighth spot and will aim to move up in the team standings.

The Arun Jaitley Stadium has short boundaries and generally offers a batter-friendly track. However, the spinners can also receive some help from the surface as the game progresses. The dew factor will play a role in the game as well.
