Star opener of Rajasthan Royals (RR), Yashasvi Jaiswal put on a power-hitting show in the Thursday night fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens.
Jaiswal lit up match 56 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, breaking the record for the fastest half-century. The left-handed batter accomplished the milestone by taking just 13 deliveries, helping his side gun down the target of 150 in 13.1 overs with nine wickets in hand.
Jaiswal’s whirlwind knock was a display of raw power and timing. He hit 13 fours and two sixes in his 47-ball unbeaten 98 runs mega show. The 21-year-old showcased that he has the potential to be one of the best batters in the world and will be a key player for the Royals in the upcoming years.
Jaiswal impressed one and all with his splendid batting exhibition as he received praises from all corners. Many current and former cricketers lauded the young batter for his breathtaking batting in the world’s toughest T20 tournament. Former India cricketer Suresh Raina lavished praise on Jaiswal and mentioned that if he was the Indian selector, he would have signed Jaiswal for the ODI World Cup squad immediately.
“If I was the Indian selector, I would have signed him today itself for the World Cup because he is in a very fresh mind,” Raina said on JioCinema.
Raina further claimed that Jaiswal reminded him of legendary Indian opener Virender Sehwag and reckoned that current skipper Rohit Sharma must be looking for players like Jaiswal for the 50-over global showpiece tournament.
“He reminds me of Virender Sehwag. I’m sure Rohit Sharma will be watching this because he will be searching for batters like him for the World Cup,” Raina added.
