India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been an integral part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise and has emerged to be one of the most valuable assets of the side in all these years. The left-handed batter has time and time again proved his worth and is also putting up a great show in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Chennai-based team.
In CSK’s most recent fixture against the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Jadeja impressed with a score of 21 runs, a wicket, and an economy rate of 4.80 in his four-over spell. He was even adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ for his all-round performance in the contest. However, what was more discussed other than the Saurashtra cricketer’s match-winning contribution was his quirky statement about his captain MS Dhoni and CSK fans in the post-match presentation.
Following the match, Jadeja said that he’s satisfied with his batting position and doesn’t want to bat up the order because if he does, the Dhoni fans will pray for his dismissal to see the latter play.
“If I come to bat early, they all chant ‘Mahi Mahi’ and pray to see MS Dhoni; they all will wait for me to get out (laughs),” said Jadeja.
While many were convinced that the CSK all-rounder’s remark was on a lighter note, some took the comment as him not being happy with the treatment under Dhoni’s captaincy. Speculations of Jadeja’s discontent with the team were further fuelled by his recent “like” of a contentious post by a Twitter user named Rajkumar that mentioned the Chennai spinner being in ‘pain’ and ‘trauma’ within the CSK camp.

The tweet soon went viral after Jadeja’s like and the discussions broke on the internet regarding the supposed rift between Jadeja and Dhoni. Notably, Jadeja has been the most dependable player of CSK in IPL 2023 so far, bagging three Player of the Matches in the ongoing tournament.
