The 43rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 turned out to be a low-scoring thriller where Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) failed to chase the paltry target of 127 set by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and lost the match by 18 runs at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Monday.

Batting first, the Challengers got off to a decent start, with captain Virat Kohli scoring 31 runs off 30 balls and Faf du Plessis hitting 44 runs off 40 balls. However, Lucknow Super Giants’ bowling attack managed to keep the opposition in check, restricting them to 126/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Naveen-ul-Haq was the pick of the bowlers for LSG taking 3 wickets for 30 runs in his 4 overs.

In response, the Super Giants struggled to chase down the target set by RCB, with several battters failing to make an impact. Krishnappa Gowtham top-scored for LSG with 23 runs. Karn Sharma was the standout bowler for RCB, taking 2 wickets each.

After the match, Kohli and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir got involved in a heated exchange with both icons approached each other aggressively before their teammates intervened and calm down the situation.
