In the age of social media, where the boundaries between common people and popular faces have become narrower, strong bonds and free-hand communication emerge. Its negative impact also rises at a rapid pace. And it’s becoming difficult for professionals in different fields to deal with the trolls each passing day.

Nowadays, some people on social media have made a habit of continuously targeting celebrities, especially sports personalities.

It has become the easiest weapon for netizens to express their frustration, anger and whatnot on famous personalities. When asked about the same, star cricketer KL Rahul shared his opinion regarding the criticism directed towards him.

Rahul, Team India batter, has been the victim of trolling due to his poor form of late. He discussed the problem and its negative impact on his mental health and other athletes in the podcast with Ranveer Allahabadia.

“Trolling is something that sometimes affects me and many other boys as well. When we athletes truly need support, people feel they can or have the power to comment on what they want. Just see what that person is going through,” said Rahul.

He added, “None of us wants to perform badly. Cricket is life. I don’t know anything else apart from cricket. Why would anyone assume that I’m not serious about my game or I’m not working hard enough? It’s the sport, I work hard but, the result didn’t go my way.”

On the cricketing front, Rahul led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 16th season of IPL before he was ruled out of the tournament due to a leg injury. Unfortunately, the injury put shutter down on his chances of representing India in the World Test Championship final against Australia as well. Before being pulled out of the IPL 2023, the LSG captain scored 274 runs in 9 matches at an average of 34.25 with a strike rate of 113.
