Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Match 50 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday.

Batting first, the Challengers posted 181/4 in 20 overs, with Mahipal Lomror being the top scorer with 54 runs off 29 balls. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis also chipped in with crucial contributions of 55 and 45, respectively. For the Capitals, Mitchell Marsh was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2 wickets for 21 runs in his 3 overs.

In their chase, Delhi gunned down the target of 182 runs with ease, winning the contest by 7 wickets and 20 balls to spare. Phil Salt was the standout performer for Delhi, scoring an impressive 87 runs off just 45 balls, including 8 fours and 6 sixes. Marsh and Rilee Rossouw also contributed with 26 and 35 runs respectively.

“I spoke before the game about being positive. We knew the wicket was slow and low, and we spoke about playing off the backfoot. I thought 180 was par, I felt we would have to bat really well to get there. (On Mitch Marsh) He came in and hit the second ball for six or something like that, it put bowlers on the backfoot. Loving the support, specially here in Delhi,” said Salt after the match.
