Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) would like to forget the kind of outing they had against Mumbai Indians (MI) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 Eliminator in Chennai on Wednesday (May 24).
Five-time IPL champions MI thrashed LSG by 81 runs courtesy of a fifer from MI’s new pace sensation Akash Madhwal. The LSG never found the batting momentum while chasing a total of 183 and were wrapped up by the opposition bowlers for just 101 runs.
Mumbai dominated Lucknow in the entire game. However, star all-rounder Marcus Stoinis was seen playing a fighting knock for Lucknow during the chase and seemed to be in good shape. But his bizarre run out was the biggest turning point of the match. From there, Mumbai’s victory got confirmed in this knockout contest.
Stoinis played the anchor role in LSG’s run chase and scored 40 runs off 27 balls. He got run out after facing a collision with Hooda while running between the wickets. In the 12th over of the second innings, Stoinis played a ball toward the mid wicket region and called for two runs. While returning for the second run, the Australian all-rounder collided with Hooda and fell short of his crease.
