Mumbai Indians (MI) got the better of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Eliminator of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 as the Rohit Sharma-led side registered an emphatic triumph by 81 runs at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday.
Batting first, Mumbai posted a competitive total of 182/8 in their allotted 20 overs, with Cameron Green (41 off 23), Suryakumar Yadav (33 off 20), Tilak Varma (26 off 22) and Nehal Wadhera (23 off 12) making the valuable contribution with the bat.
In their chase, the team led by Krunal Pandya struggled to gain momentum and suffered a collapse, getting dismissed for a paltry total of 101 in just 16.3 overs, resulting in an 81-run loss in the contest. Akash Madhwal emerged as the standout bowler for the five-time champions, delivering a superb performance with a remarkable five-wicket haul, conceding only 5 runs in 3.3 overs.
Following the match, Naveen-ul-Haq, the pace bowler for LSG, who had an impressive performance with a 4-wicket haul, became the subject of relentless trolling centered around mangoes on various social media platforms. Fans flooded Twitter and Instagram with mango-themed memes, showcasing their creativity to mock both LSG and Naveen. Not only the meme community, but popular brands like Swiggy and Zomato also joined in the trend, sharing humorous memes aimed at the LSG bowler.
Zomato’s official Twitter handle shared a picture featuring a plate filled with mangoes placed alongside a television screen displaying Naveen batting. The caption accompanying the picture read, “Not so sweet mangoes.”

Not only this, some Mumbai players also joined the trend and trolled Naveen. MI players, Kumar Kartikeya, Vishnu Vinod, and Sandeep Warrier captured a photo together at the dining table, with a prominent display of mangoes in the frame.
Sandeep and Vishnu both shared the image on their respective Instagram accounts, however, they subsequently removed the posts. Nevertheless, screenshots of their Instagram posts quickly went viral, further fueling the banter between the players.
