Some prominent players from the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have been confirmed to play for the Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) in the inaugural edition of Major League Cricket (MLC). The presence of star players like Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Lockie Ferguson and Jason Roy is expected to add firepower to the LAKR squad.
Joining the KKR contingent are Australian spinner Adam Zampa, former New Zealand opener Martin Guptill and South African batsman Rilee Rossouw, further strengthening the LAKR’s roster with their diverse skills.
The LAKR squad also boasts the talents of Indian player Unmukt Chand, who will contribute his expertise to the team. Additionally, USA’s Jaskaran Malhotra has been included in the squad. Malhotra made headlines with his remarkable achievement of hitting six sixes in an over in international cricket, showcasing his prowess as a dynamic batsman.
Earlier this year, Roy made the decision to terminate his England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) incremental contract in order to participate in the MLC competition in the USA.
The LAKR squad is further complemented by the inclusion of Ali Sheikh (USA), Bhaskar Yadram (West Indies), Corne Dry (South Africa), Nitish Kumar (Canada), Saif Badar (Pakistan) and Shadley Van Schalkwyk (South Africa), adding an international flavour to the team’s composition.
The MLC 2023 is set to take place from July 13 to 30 at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas. As a six-team tournament, it promises to provide an exciting platform for players from around the world to showcase their talent and entertain cricket enthusiasts in the United States.
