Star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was on song during the fourth day’s play in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at the Oval in London. Jadeja bagged three wickets for 58 runs in his quota of 23 overs, including 4 maidens.

During his eye-catching spell, Jadeja stunned Cameron Green as he dismissed the Aussie all-rounder with a beauty. Notably, Jadeja was brought into the bowling attack after eight overs with a clear intention of making the ball turn sharply from outside the leg stump.

The plan proved effective for India as Green, while trying to play a forward defensive stroke, was caught off guard by the additional bounce. The ball ended up hitting his glove before bouncing onto the stumps.

Australia declare on 270/8 to set India a 444-run target

Australia declared their second innings at 270/8, presenting India with an immense challenge of chasing down a colossal target of 444 runs. Following the lunch break, the Aussies came out with a clear intention to score runs quickly, and Alex Carey, along with Mitchell Starc, played a vital role in achieving that goal.

The duo contributed 93 runs for the seventh wicket, providing Australia with an additional advantage. Carey displayed great determination and resilience as he top-scored for the side, smashing 66 runs off 105 balls.

For India to achieve victory, they will need to surpass their own record for the highest-ever successful fourth-innings run chase, which is at 406/4 against West Indies in Port of Spain in 1976. When it comes to the highest successful run chase at The Oval, England accomplished the feat against Australia over a century ago in 1902 by chasing 263.
