Fans across the globe have reason to cheer as Cricket Ireland (CI) have officially announced the fixtures for their upcoming home T20I series against the mighty Team India. The announcement, made on Tuesday, has sparked excitement and anticipation among cricket enthusiasts eager to witness the clash of these two cricketing nations.
After the resounding success of India’s previous tour to Ireland in 2022, both teams are gearing up for another thrilling encounter. The details of the series were finalized on June 27, setting the stage for India’s return to the Irish shores.
The action-packed series will see Ireland hosting Team India for three exhilarating T20I matches. The picturesque grounds of Malahide, situated on the outskirts of Dublin, have been selected as the venue for these high-stakes encounters. Cricket aficionados can mark their calendars for August 18, August 20, and August 23, as these dates promise to deliver gripping moments and nail-biting finishes.
The scheduling of this T20I series immediately after India’s all-format tour of the West Indies in July and August adds an extra layer of excitement for fans worldwide. With minimal downtime between the two tours, both teams will be eager to carry their momentum into these contests, setting the stage for intense battles on the field.
Warren Deutrom, Chief Executive of Cricket Ireland emphasized the anticipation and excitement surrounding the upcoming series, expressing confidence that the addition of a third match will provide more fans with the chance to witness the thrilling cricketing action. Deutrom extended his gratitude to the BCCI for consistently incorporating Ireland into the Indian team’s packed schedule. He appreciates the collaborative effort between the two boards in creating a schedule that is fan-friendly by scheduling the matches on the weekends.
“We are delighted to welcome India Men back to Ireland for the second time in 12 months. We saw two sold-out matches in 2022, so to have a three-match series this year should give even more fans the opportunity to enjoy what is always a memorable occasion,” said Deutrom as quoted by ICC.
“Our sincere thanks to the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), first, for their continued inclusion of Ireland in the Indian team’s busy itinerary and also for working with us to ensure as fan-friendly a schedule a possible – having matches on a Friday and Sunday will hopefully maximise the availability of fans,” he added.
