The Day 2 of the one-off Test between England and Ireland is currently underway at the Lords, with the hosts leading by a decent margin and eight wickets still in hand. After bundling out Ireland on 172 on the first day of the match, England started things well and were given a great start from their openers, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett. The duo of Crawley and Duckett added 109 runs for the first wicket. However, Crawley couldn’t convert his start and was dismissed on 56 by Fionn Hand.
On the other hand, Duckett went on to score his second ton in the longest format off just 106 balls. The sensational knock of the 28-year-old batter was very well applauded by his teammates and spectators as they stood on their feet to show respect for Duckett. The English players spotted clapping for Duckett after his exploit included England skipper Ben Stokes, Joe Root and Harry Brook. Meanwhile, the team’s head coach, Brendon McCullum, also applauded the centurion alongside others.

Soon after completing his century, Duckett raced to 150, and he even edged past legendary Don Bradman in terms of quickest 150 at the Lord’s in the process. However, when it almost felt like Duckett might score his maiden double ton, he unfortunately fell victim to Graham Hume on 182.
It is also worth mentioning that this is Duckett’s first Test at home. Although the left-handed batter played eight matches before this, they were all out of England. This is also the first century by an opener in a home Test in the last two years.
Coming back to the match, apart from Duckett, Ollie Pope also scored a amazing hundred and is inching closer to a double ton, with England leading by over 300 runs until 75 overs.
