Du Plessis will be accompanied by the guidance of head coach Stephen Fleming, who is also in charge of the IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings and SA20 team Jo’burg Super Kings.
Joining the Texas side alongside Du Plessis are international players such as Devon Conway, Mitchell Santner, Ambati Rayudu and David Miller. This will reunite Rayudu, Santner and Conway, who were part of the victorious CSK squad in the IPL 2023.
In addition, Dwayne Bravo, who serves as the Super Kings’ bowling coach, will contribute his skills as a player for the Texas Super Kings in the MLC. Assisting Fleming in the coaching department will be Eric Simmons and Albie Morkel.
Scheduled to take place from July 14 to 31 in Dallas, the MLC 2023 is a six-team tournament. Alongside the Texas Super Kings, other participating teams include the Los Angeles Knight Riders, MI New York, Washington Freedom, San Francisco Unicorns and Seattle Orcas.
Each team is allowed a maximum squad size of 19 players, with nine of them eligible to be overseas players. In the playing XI, a maximum of six international players can be included, while a minimum of five domestic players must always be part of the lineup. Every roster must have at least ten domestic players to ensure balance and local representation.
