The star Australia cricketer Steve Smith is considered one of the greatest Test batters of modern times and enjoys a healthy fan following worldwide. The former Aussie captain has amassed 8729 runs in 96 Test matches at an exceptional average of 59.88 so far and is an inspiration and role model to many aspiring young cricketers.

Although Smith faced a big downfall in his career a few years back and was out of action due to a ball-tampering controversy, he bounced back strongly to reclaim the top spot in the longest format of the game. It is his passion and determination only that have earned him innumerable accolades throughout his career.

It is also worth mentioning that Smith, who started his career as a leg spinner, not only excelled as a batter in Tests but across formats. He even has won four Allan Border medals for his sensational performances. Notably, Allan Border is Australian cricket’s greatest individual honours. The most recent medal for Smith came in the 2021 Australian Awards.

Speaking of Smith’s ODI and T20I career, the right-handed batter has 4939 runs in the 50-over format and 1008 runs in the shortest format of the game. He was also part of Australia’s 2015 Cricket World Cup and 2021 T20 World Cup triumph.

Smith is currently practising for World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023 against India in England, and his fan following was once again on display as he received so many wishes from his lovers across the world after turning 34 on Friday (June 2). While many fans hailed Smith as the greatest test batter on his birthday, many praised his unorthodox and unique batting.
