The match between Gloucestershire and Leicestershire in County 2023 witnessed a weird dismissal that left everyone wondering and confused. The event took place on the Day 3 of the game when Leicestershire were four wickets down with Lewis Hill and Louis Kimber on the crease. However, Kimber was soon declared out in a bizarre manner and had to walk back to the pavilion.

On the second ball of the 78th over, Gloucestershire spinner Oliver Price produced a flighted and straighter delivery to Kimber, which the latter defended successfully but ended up holding the red leather with his hand while it was still in the air. The act by Kimber attracted a huge appeal from the fielding team, and he eventually was declared out for obstructing the field. While the bizarre dismissal made many fuming and criticizing the match official for his judgement, many termed the decision to be fair and as per the rules.

Here’s the video:

Speaking of the match, winning the toss and opting to bat first, Gloucestershire ended their first innings on 368 runs, with Oliver contributing 85 runs to the team’s total. Meanwhile, Danny Lamb and Ajeet Dale played handy knocks of 70 and 52 runs for their side. Chris Wright and Josh Hull shined with the ball for Leicestershire and claimed three wickets each.

In reply, Leicestershire finished 18 runs behind Gloucestershire’s score, i.e. on 350. Lewis Hill (103) slammed a brilliant century for them to ensure that his team did not give too much lead to the opponents. On the other hand, Zaman Akhtar bagged four scalps among Gloucestershire bowlers.

Gloucestershire will now try to build up on the 18-run lead and put a challenging total for Leicestershire.
