Star India batter Virat Kohli shared a cryptic Instagram Story ahead of Day 3 of the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia. Notably, Kohli had a disappointing outing with the bat on the second day as he was dismissed for just 14 during India’s first innings.

However, post his dismissal, the former India skipper was trolled heavily on social media. The trolls targeted him heavily after a picture went viral on the internet, showing him eating in the dressing room alongside other members of the Indian squad.

Many fans criticized Kohli for his underwhelming performance in the first innings and attempted to imply that he lacked seriousness towards the crucial match between India and Australia. Netizens on social media drew parallels between Virat Kohli’s disappointing performance and Sachin Tendulkar‘s low score in the 2003 World Cup match against Australia.

In that crucial match, Tendulkar’s inability to put up a substantial score resulted in India’s failure to win the coveted World Cup. It was widely reported that after the loss, Tendulkar refrained from eating for three days, showcasing his deep disappointment. To emphasize the contrasting reactions, one user shared a post comparing Tendulkar’s pained expression after the defeat with Kohli’s image of casually eating in the dressing room following his dismissal.

Meanwhile, prior to the commencement of Day 3, Kohli took to his official Instagram account to share a mysterious message aimed directly at the trolls. The story highlighted the importance of developing the ability to be disliked in order to attain personal freedom.

“You must develop the ability to be disliked in order to free yourseld from the prison of other peoples’ opinions,” the message in the story read.
