ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023: Yash Dhull’s ton guides India to big win over UAE; Pakistan beat Nepal

The second day of the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 saw a doubleheader where India thrashed United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the 3rd game while Pakistan got the better of Nepal in the fourth match.

India displayed a dominant performance as they clinched a convincing 8-wicket victory against UAE at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground where they opted to bowl first and they restricted UAE to 175/9 in 50 overs.

UAE struggled to build substantial partnerships as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Aryansh Sharma top-scored with a well-played 46 runs off 107 balls. Ashwant Valthapa contributed a patient knock of 38 runs off 42 deliveries, including 7 boundaries.

Mohammed Faraazuddin provided some resistance with 35 runs off 88 deliveries. Harshit Rana was the pick of the bowlers for India, scalping four wickets for 41 runs in his 9 overs. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Manav Suthar also chipped in with two wickets each.

In response, India chased down the target comfortably, reaching 179/2 in just 26.3 overs. Captain Yash Dhull was the star performer with a magnificent century. He smashed 108 runs off 84 balls, including 20 fours and a six, providing a solid foundation for India A’s victory. Nikin Jose contributed a valuable 41 runs off 53 deliveries. Abhishek Sharma provided a quick start with 19 runs off 14 balls.

In the fourth match of the competition, Pakistan clashed with Nepal at the Colombo Cricket Club Ground. Batting first, Nepal got off to a slow start as they struggled to build partnerships and score freely. They managed to post a total of 179 runs before being all out in 37 overs.

Sompal Kami was the standout performer for Nepal, scoring a brilliant 75 runs off 101 deliveries, including 9 fours and 2 sixes. Other notable contributions came from Arjun Saud (17 runs) and Kushal Malla (17 runs). Mohammad Wasim and Shahnawaz Dahani were the star bowlers for Pakistan, with Wasim taking 4 wickets for 51 runs in his 10 overs and Dahani claiming 5 wickets for 38 runs in his 10 overs.

In their chase, Pakistan showed a steady batting performance and reached the target with 17 balls to spare, securing a victory by 4 wickets. Tayyab Tahir played a crucial role with a patient knock of 51 runs off 67 deliveries, including 6 boundaries. Omair Bin Yousuf contributed 36 runs, while Saim Ayub (24 runs) and Kamran Ghulam (31 runs) made valuable contributions as well.
