After a long wait, the schedule for Asia Cup 2023 has finally been announced. The upcoming continental event will witness the participation of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Nepal.

In the 2023 edition, the tournament will adopt a group stage format. Two teams from each group will advance to the highly anticipated Super Four stage. The top two sides from the Super Four stage will eventually vie for the ultimate prize in a thrilling final showdown.

The tournament will witness a total of 13 matches. In Group A, Pakistan have been placed alongside arch-rivals India and Nepal. On the other hand, Group B comprises Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, setting the stage for exciting clashes among these formidable teams.

After a gap of five years, the Asia Cup is making a comeback in the ODI format. This competition will serve as a crucial warm-up for the upcoming ODI World Cup, scheduled to take place in India during October and November. In the previous edition held in 2018, India, led by Rohit Sharma, emerged victorious in a thrilling final, defeating Bangladesh by three wickets.

In the most recent edition, held in mid-2022, Sri Lanka clinched the title by triumphing over Pakistan in a highly contested final, winning by a margin of 23 runs. The final match was held in Dubai, adding to the excitement and fervour of the event.

In the upcoming Asia Cup, the first-round Pakistan-India game will be played in Kandy on September 2, and if both teams make it to the Super 4s, Colombo will be the host for that game.
