In a mesmerizing display of skill and determination, Stuart Broad once again showcased his prowess as a world-class bowler by dismissing David Warner for the 17th time in Test cricket. The momentous occasion occurred during the third Ashes 2023 Test at Headingley, marking the second instance in the same match that Broad dismissed the Australian opener. The left-handed batter managed to score a mere five runs across both innings.

The Day 2 of the third Test witnessed a deja vu moment as Broad once again sent Warner packing just like the opening day. The English bowled a beautiful delivery to trap Warner, leaving the Aussie batter helpless with only one run to his name. The dismissal contributed to an uncanny feat by Warner as it marked his 17th failure against Broad in 51 Test innings.

It all happened on the second ball of the third over when Broad delivered a ripper of an angled-in delivery to Warner, and the Aussie opener edged it in pursuit of defence. Soon after finding a thick outside edge of Warner’s bat, the red leather went straight towards Zak Crawley, who made no mistake and executed a flawless catch at the second slip.

Broad was pumped up after the dismissal and was seen running in excitement and roaring to celebrate the wicket. Meanwhile, Warner shook his head with a wry smile as he walked back to the pavilion.

Speaking of the match, England couldn’t carry the momentum from Day 1 and were bowled out for 238 runs by Australia courtesy of a sensation six-fer from Pat Cummins. It was English skipper Ben Stokes‘ gritty knock of 80 runs off 108 balls that provided England with a fighting chance in the match and made sure that the hosts didn’t finish too far behind Australia’s first-innings score of 263.
