Bangladesh beat India in 3rd T20I

In an exhilarating encounter of the India Women tour of Bangladesh 2023, Bangladesh emerged victorious in the 3rd T20I against India. The match took place at the iconic Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday, July 13.

India won the toss and elected to bat first. However, they faced a tough challenge from the hosts’ bowling attack. India managed to score a total of 102 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur top-scored for India with 40 runs, followed by Jemimah Rodrigues, who contributed a crucial 28 runs. The Bangladeshi bowlers put up an impressive display, with Rabeya Khan taking three wickets and Sultana Khatun claiming two scalps.

Chasing a target of 103 runs, Bangladesh showed determination and composure throughout their innings. Opener Shamima Sultana played a vital role, scoring 42 runs, while Nigar Sultana and Sathi Rani made 14 and 10 runs, respectively. With contributions from other batters, Bangladesh achieved the target with 10 balls to spare, securing a comprehensive 4-wicket victory.

On the bowling front, Minnu Mani and Devika Vaidya were the standout performers for India, taking two wickets each. But, their efforts were not enough to prevent the spirited Bangladesh from clinching the win. The crowd at the Shere Bangla National Stadium witnessed an exciting contest between bat and ball.

With this victory, the home team managed to avoid a series whitewash, as Women in Blue had won the previous two T20Is. The series went 2-1 in favour of India, who registered victories in the first two games.

India skipper Harmanpreet was awarded the ‘Player of the Series’ for her consistent performances in the 3-T20I series.

Both teams will now lock horns in a three-match ODI series starting on Sunday, July 16. All three ODIs will be played at the same venue and would be part of the 2022–2025 ICC Women’s Championship.
