The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued a significant medical update on the fitness progress of five crucial players who are currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Prasidh Krishna, all key members of the Indian cricket team across formats, suffered serious injuries that required surgical interventions, leading to their absence from international assignments.

The BCCI Medical Team shared updates on each player’s recovery, providing fans and the cricketing fraternity with insights into their current status:

Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna: The fast bowling duo is in the final stages of their rehabilitation and have been actively participating in rigorous bowling sessions in the nets. The BCCI Medical Team is pleased with their progress, and in a bid to further assess their readiness for a comeback, both players will participate in practice games organized by the NCA. A final decision regarding their availability will be made based on their performance and fitness in these practice matches.

KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer: Both batsmen have resumed their batting practice in the nets and are currently undergoing strength and fitness drills. The BCCI Medical Team is satisfied with their improvement and intends to gradually increase the intensity of their training, focusing on honing their skills and conditioning in the days to come.

Rishabh Pant: The dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman has shown significant progress in his rehabilitation journey. He has resumed batting practice and wicket-keeping drills in the nets. Following a custom-designed fitness program, Pant is working on enhancing his strength, flexibility, and running capabilities.

As the ODI World Cup approaches, scheduled just over two months away, India will be eagerly hoping for the complete recovery and availability of these key players.

The absence of these talents has undoubtedly hampered the team in recent international assignments. With their return, the Indian squad will look to bolster its strength and have a full-strength team for the prestigious tournament.
