England and Wales Cricket (ECB) have unveiled the highly-anticipated schedule for their men’s team in 2024, featuring matches against Australia, West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan across Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. The packed home schedule reflects England‘s focus shifting from regaining the Ashes to defending their ICC T20 World Cup title in the coming year.
England’s Test side is currently in the midst of hosting Australia for the Ashes 2023. The first two matches of this prestigious competition have already taken place, with Australia emerging victorious in both encounters. The remaining three fixtures are scheduled to be played between July 6th and July 31st, providing an opportunity for the hosts to mount a comeback and reclaim the Ashes urn.
In next English summer in 2024, England will host Pakistan for a thrilling four-match T20I series in late May. This series will serve as valuable preparation for the English team before they set off to defend their T20 World Cup title in the United States and the Caribbean in June under the leadership of captain Jos Buttler.
In July 2024, West Indies will travel to the UK for a captivating three-match Test series against England. The series will commence with the first Test at Lord’s Cricket Ground on July 10th, followed by matches at Trent Bridge and Edgbaston later in the month. ECB’s chief executive officer Richard Gould talked about revealing the schedule of the next summer and said that they are looking forward to another memorable season.
