The eagerly anticipated multi-format series between India and West Indies is set to kick off on Wednesday, July 12. The tour will feature two Test matches, followed by three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and five Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). The series holds great significance for both teams as it marks the beginning of their campaign in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for 2023-2025.

After a one- month break following the WTC 2023 final, the Indian cricket team will set foot on the field. This break was one of the longest periods of rest that Team India have had in recent years, considering their typically busy and demanding international schedule. The series presents an opportunity for both seasoned players and young talents to perform well, particularly after the disappointment of the WTC summit clash loss against Australia.

In addition to the inclusion of promising youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Mukesh Kumar in the Test squad, the West Indies series also marks the comeback of a senior player. Veteran Indian pacer Ishant Sharma, who has been phased out of the Test team, will return to the fold, but in a different role – as a commentator.

In an announcement made on Sunday, JioCinema expressed their enthusiasm on Twitter about Ishant joining the commentary panel, highlighting his impressive 10-wicket haul in Test against the Windies.

Apart from Ishant, the panel also includes the likes of Zaheer Khan, Wasim Jaffer, Aakash Chopra, Saba Karim, and Abhinav Mukund. They will come together to provide insights and analysis during the two-match series.
