In the latest ICC Men’s Test rankings for batters, New Zealand’s Kane Williamson has reclaimed the No. 1 position with 883 rating points. This is the first time Williamson has held the top spot since August 2021. England’s Joe Root (866) has slipped from first to fifth position after scoring 10 and 18 in the Lord’s Test against Australia. Williamson has not played a Test since March 2023, which was only his eighth appearance in the format since the start of 2022.

Following his Man of the Match performance at Lord’s, Australia’s Steve Smith (882) has jumped to the No. 2 position, just one rating point behind Williamson. Smith scored 110 in the first innings, marking his 32nd hundred in Tests. He is set to play his 100th Test match at Headingley.

Australia now has four batters within the top seven rankings, with Marnus Labuschagne (873) at third, Travis Head (874) at fourth, and Usman Khawaja (847) at seventh. Labuschagne contributed 47 and 30 at Lord’s, Head smashed 77 off 73 in the first innings, and Khawaja scored a half-century in the second innings.

In the Test bowlers’ rankings, Australian captain Pat Cummins (826) has climbed two places to second, closing in on India’s Ravichandran Ashwin (860), who holds the top spot. Mitchell Starc has also moved up two spots to secure the 14th position. However, England’s James Anderson (813) has fallen from second to fourth place after a poor run in the Ashes 2023 series. English newcomer Josh Tongue has made a significant leap of 27 spots to claim the 59th position due to his impressive performances at Lord’s.

In the Men’s Test all-rounders standings, Ben Stokes (326) of England has moved up one place to fourth, while Joe Root (276) has also climbed one spot to seventh. Ravindra Jadeja (434) of India continues to hold the top position among all-rounders, with Ashwin (352), also from India, maintaining the second spot.

In the Men’s ODI batters Rankings, the ongoing ICC ODI Cricket World Cup Qualifier has led to some minor changes. Ireland’s Harry Tector (726) has moved up one slot to joint-sixth position after scoring 60 against Nepal in the seventh-place playoff match of the ICC Men’s WC Qualifier 2023. Scott Edwards of the Netherlands has climbed five places to 35th, and Pathum Nissanka of Sri Lanka has risen eight places to 38th in the batting rankings.

In the bowling rankings, Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane has moved up five places to 24th after picking up three wickets against the United Arab Emirates. Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana has risen 21 places to 32nd, and Scotland’s Chris Sole has advanced 23 places to 39th after impressive performances in the Qualifier.
