India thrash Nepal to book a place in the semifinals of ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023

India A displayed a dominant performance in their match against Nepal at the ACC Mens Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 held at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on Monday, July 17. Nepal won the toss and opted to bat first.

Nepal struggled to find stability in their innings, eventually being bowled out for 167 runs in 39.2 overs. Rohit Kumar Paudel top-scored with 65 runs, while Gulshan Kumar Jha contributed a valuable 38 runs. Nishant Sindhu, Harshit Rana and Rajvardhan Hangargekar stood out with the ball for India A, taking 4, 2 and 3 wickets respectively.

In the chase, India A showcased a dominant batting performance, reaching the target of 168 with ease. Abhishek Sharma played an exceptional knock, scoring 87 runs off just 69 balls, including 12 fours and 2 sixes. Sai Sudharsan provided excellent support with his unbeaten knock of 58 runs. India A comfortably reached the target in just 22.1 overs, finishing at 172/1.

Nepal’s bowling efforts were in vain as they failed to make breakthroughs. Rohit Kumar claimed the only wicket for Nepal. India A emerged victorious by 9 wickets, with Abhishek’s outstanding performance earning him the ‘Player of the Match’ award.

This win has taken India A to the semifinal stage, while Nepal have been knocked out of the tournament. India A will square off with Bangladesh A in the second semifinal at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on Friday, July 21.

Pakistan A will take on Sri Lanka A in the first semifinal on the same day at P Sara Oval, Colombo.
