Seattle Orcas (SEO) and MI New York (MINY) are all set to square off with each other in a winner-takes-all finale at Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas on Sunday (July 30). The summit clash of the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2023 will begin at 7:30 pm local/ 12:30 am GMT or 6:00 am IST (July 31).
Wayne Parnell‘s leadership has been instrumental in guiding the Orcas to a remarkable run in the tournament. Winning five out of six matches, they are in outstanding form. During the league stage, the Orcas secured the top position in the points table. In Qualifier 1, they convincingly defeated Texas Super Kings (TSK) by nine wickets. Quinton de Kock‘s brilliant knock of an unbeaten 88 off 50 balls, featuring 10 fours and 4 sixes, earned him the Player of the Match title. Supported by Andrew Tye‘s excellent bowling performance, taking three wickets, the Orcas successfully chased down a target of 127 with 30 balls to spare.
On the other hand, Nicholas Pooran-led MINY finished fourth in the table after the league stage but showed tremendous form in the playoffs. By knocking out the Washington Freedom (WAF) in the Eliminator, they demonstrated their competitive edge. Later, in the Challenger, they defeated the Super Kings by six wickets, thanks to Trent Boult’s impressive four-wicket haul, his third in last three games.
