In a significant move, Major League Cricket (MLC) franchise Texas Super Kings (TSK) announced the inclusion of veteran spinner Imran Tahir in their squad on Wednesday, just ahead of the start of the inaugural season on July 13.
The signing of Tahir comes shortly after Ambati Rayudu withdrew from the T20 tournament due to personal reasons, creating a vacancy in the Super Kings lineup. The franchise wasted no time in securing the services of the experienced spinner to bolster their squad.

Tahir is no stranger to the franchise cricket scene, having previously played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) from 2018 to 2021. During his tenure with CSK, Tahir was a key contributor to the team’s success, being part of two title-winning campaigns in 2018 and 2021.
The South African star has also showcased his skills in other renowned T20 leagues worldwide. Tahir has represented various teams such as Delhi Capitals (2014-2016) and Rising Pune Supergiant (2017) in the IPL. Additionally, he has featured in competitions like the Pakistan Super League, Big Bash League, Bangladesh Premier League, and The Hundred, adding valuable experience and expertise to his arsenal.
Tahir’s acquisition marks TSK’s eighth international signing, joining the ranks of notable players such as Faf du Plessis, David Miller, Dwayne Bravo, Devon Conway, Daniel Sams, Mitchell Santner and Gerald Coetzee. With this strong blend of international talent, the franchise aims to make a mark in the inaugural season of MLC and compete against other star-studded teams.
As TSK gear up for their first match in the tournament, fans eagerly anticipate witnessing the dynamic performances of Tahir and the rest of the squad. Tahir’s vast experience and skill in the spin department will undoubtedly be an asset to the team, as they strive to establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with in MCL 2023.
